Introduction
Jordan Cement Company owns two plants; Fuhays plant which is located west of Amman and Rashadyia plant which is located 200 Km south of Amman. These plants are the only operating plants in Jordan, with annual production of 4.6 million tones of cement. Cement manufacturing which includes mining, production and handling process may produce dust. Jordan Cement Company executed many projects for environmental improvements in both plants to protect the human settlements and the environment around both plants. To study the effectiveness of these projects, agreement with Balqa Applied University/Faculty of Agriculture Technology as a scientific party to execute program for ambient air monitoring at Fuhays & Rashadyia on a continuous basis, the results of this monitoring program will guide to evaluate the levels of dust in the ambient air.
